Although it has been hard to miss the coverage of the new iPhone 3G that arrived last month, it is still worth noting some of the iPhone’s highlights.

Apple has already sold more than a million new iPhones and there have been more than ten million downloads from the new App Store.  For the uninitiated, the App Store allows iPhone users to purchase (or download free, depending on the application) new applications for their iPhones.  Applications can be downloaded from iTunes or even directly to the iPhone itself.  The available applications are anything from several different to-do lists, to Facebook and eBay apps, to games, to a remote control for your iTunes.  There are currently hundreds of apps to choose from, with more being added every day.

Also included in the new iPhone software is Exchange ActiveSync support.  This allows users with Exchange servers to sync their email, calendar and contacts over the air with the Exchange server. Users of Kerio Mail Sever also are able to sync their iPhones over ActiveSync thanks to a new Kerio 6.5.2 update.  (Note: if you do not have an Exchange server, be sure to read Mark’s article this month on MobileMe.)

The new iPhone also features 3G networking for faster data transfer, as well as a GPS receiver.  With the new software and new hardware features, the new iPhone is already a hit.

Tell us what you think.
